Role
Storyboard Artist
"The Chica Show" was a spin-off of Sprout Network's live-action "Sunny Side Up" program, which took the titular chicken puppet Chica out of her former co-hosting role, and made her the focus of stories in her own right. The new show retained a live action framework, but for 2-4 minutes every episode, the characters would go into Flash-animated fantasy segments, and I got to do the storyboards for many of those segments. It was a cool gig; there was a need to maximize the utility of the art, which was an interesting intellectual challenge, but the settings and costumes for each segment varied widely, which helped keep it fresh. And my rough layouts and board poses were used in a very direct fashion by the design and animation personnel (who of course, proceeded to make them even better.)
The Sunny Side Up program itself also continued to run simultaneously, and eventually, I was asked to board the new opener for that program as well; some of the art from that is also in this section.
